What is reformer Pilates? So, the Reformer is the current buzz word in fitness but there is so much more to it than what you may have seen on social media....the reformer was created by Joseph Pilates around 1914-18 so it's not anything new! Joseph Pilates used a series of exercises involving bed springs, creating resistance to aid the rehabilitation of soldiers wounded in battle.
Although the reformer may look intimidating for someone new it offers great advantage of working with and against the spring resistance within the apparatus. Do not be led by the reels on social media, the reformer requires patience, control and understanding, all of which you have in abundance already :)
The original name for the classic movements in Pilates was 'Contrology'...thinking about control as we move, engaging the correct muscles to help us move and function more efficiently and thoughtfully in everyday life. The reformer is brilliant for a wide variety of people from fitness benefits, rehabilitation, joint pain, overall and core strength. Pilates compliments other forms of exercise, when training for a marathon (for example) a key component is core and strength so don't knock it, until you try it!

By working 1-2-1 with me we tailor a programme to suit YOU, that's right, YOU! One size does not fit all.
We start slowly, building familiarity and confidence, I'll gain feedback from you, progressing you onwards as is appropriate.
The reformer can be lots of fun, it works all over your body, it can offer support but also challenge your body and it's stability, all round benefits!
If you are currently working with a physio/osteo or any health professional and would like me chat with them to see what you can and can't do and what goals you have with them, I'd always be happy to chat with them to get your programme correct.
Sessions will be run from my home where the space is light, bright and calm. we can have the doors open when it's warm or comfortably warm when it's a cold, winter's day.
